1.1 INTRODUCTION TO GRAPHIC DESIGN
Savory Nature
A graphic design illustration that vibrantly portrays the contrasting smells and tastes of something natural from the soil and something served fresh from the oven. Both stimulate the senses in different ways, is one supposed to smell the aroma of sweet flowers or the aroma of savory cheese and bread? Does it tempt one to take a bite of the melty cheese and crunchy crust, or will they choose to stop and smell the roses instead?
1.2 EXPLORING PRE-MODERN GRAPHIC DESIGN
Calling all the Masterpieces
An illustration highlighting artwork elements from different pre-modern periods with their iconic symbols and distinct visuals. They all played a part in strengthening the ideas of artistic identity found in modern graphic designers and artists from all around the world in a variety of mediums.
1.3 RENAISSANCE ART AND DECORATIVE ARTS
Mother Renaissance Art with her Cartoony Child
Surrounded by cut-out cartoon cherubs filled in with crayons, Mother Renaissance Art tenderly holds her paper cut-out Cartoony Child in her realistic painterly hands. His hand is small against hers and their contrasting styles don't make them resemble a mother and son, but she has raised him as hers through the stroke of a pen and pencil on paper. Even when she dies, she lives on through the lingering techniques and elements passed on by her son.
1.4 ART MOVEMENTS THAT SHAPED OUR WORLD
Noodle Time!
Friends meet and share a meal in their favorite noodle shop, Noodle Time! They exchange stories about their lives and adventures. They’re all going on different paths in their lives, but just for tonight their differences blend in together like the noodles, soup, and its toppings.
(still) 1.4 ART MOVEMENTS THAT SHAPED OUR WORLD
A Lot on the Mind
A young man sits and ponders, his mind and thoughts are left obscure, instead being reflected on the very bench he's sitting on, trailing on the ground he walks upon.
1.5 THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION AND CONTEMPORARY DESIGN
Are You Working, Son???
A graphic design poster embodying the everyday grind and hustle of tired older siblings who have mouths to feed but such little time for themselves. They keep things organized and on schedule, yet even those neatly arranged thoughts are filled with nothing but anxiety and complaints that haunt them. At least some of those phrases are motivational affirmations, right?
